ICYMI, world-class makeup artist, expert cosmetics curator, self-professed product fanatic, and cool-woman creator Sam Chapman has just launched a collection with Beauty Pie, inclusive of nine must-have makeup items (we might be biased, but it’s pretty mega).

To celebrate the launch and showcase the all-new products in a range of go-to shades and versatile textures, Sam has created four easy-to-apply (and even easier to wear) looks that can be adapted for everyone, for every occasion.

“I always start with one product and build the rest of the look around it,” she says. “Because we have four shades of lipstick in the collection, I used them as my starting point. If you have two products and they’re both quite strong you could get into a bit of a mix so always pick one or the other and then work the look around that.”

The lipsticks are a velvety liquid formula that glides on and settles down to a beautifully blurry, soft matte finish and the four shades? Jude, a peachy nude; Rosa, a deep pink; Bear, a modern brown; and Pops, a true poppy red.

Look 1: Modern Rose

Using the shade Rosa as the starting point, Sam built this suits-everyone, romantic look. “I applied three coats of the Liquid Lipstick in Rosa for an opaque finish, but it can be easily toned down for a softer look,” she says. “You can put a little bit on and buff it in with a brush so it’s much softer. The formula is really versatile.”

On the eyes, Sam opted for Wondercolour Shadow Stick in Lady M to create a natural-looking shadow on her eyelids. “I absolutely love this pencil. I’ve been looking for one this colour for years - it just creates a natural shadow on the lid, or if you have a little bit of a deeper skin-tone, you can use it on your waterline too.”

Look 2: 60s Silver

A classic smokey eye with a 60s twist? It’s a YES from us. “It’s really wearable,” Sam says of the look. “Sometimes people are wary of a smokey eye but a great way to wear it is with a soft lip - this particular shade is Jude. I put it on with a Shape and Smudge Eyeshadow Brush but it works perfectly on the lip. I use one side to apply and the other side to soften out the edges. If you want something that looks really natural, putting it on with a brush is a great way to achieve that.”

As for the silver eyeshadow, Sam used her Sheer Machine Eye Paint in Cassio. “It can go on strong or it can blend out until it’s pretty sheer. I’ve got it on quite soft but then I’ve used Supercolour Kohl Liner in Smoky Quartz along the lash line to add intensity.” To finish? “LOADS of mascara”.

Look 3: Sam's Red Lip

There is no makeup look more iconic than a classic red lip. Sam’s perfect red is the shade Pops in the new Wondercolour Matte Liquid Lipsticks: “it’s a beautiful poppy colour - my signature red.” For maximum impact, use a lip liner of a similar shade or a very precise lip brush to define the edges and create a crisp, clean finish.

Sam paired the lip with subtle, almost nude eye makeup. “I used the Sheer Machine Eye Paint in Verona, which is a very soft metallic taupe, to create balance with the strong lip.”

On her cheeks, Sam used the new Blushy Lip & Cheek Tint in Bud. “I’m mad for this,” she confesses. “It gives you a soft rosy glow on your cheek but it also gives you a light-reflecting sheen, so it’s essentially a highlighter as well. Plus, you can use it on the lips to give a really, really soft, bitten-lip look.”

Look 4: Copper Gaze

Sam’s final look features a stunning monochromatic copper eye. The star product? Sheer Machine Eye Paint in Omni. “I absolutely love this shade of the eye shadow - it’s my favourite of all the shades. It is so flattering on everyone!”

To complete the look, Sam paired the eye with a warm, brown lip (Wondercolour Matte Liquid Lipstick in Bare) for a monochromatic finish. “This eyeshadow would look equally gorgeous with the red lip so if you want to be a little adventurous, that would be a stunning combination.” We couldn’t agree more.
