Is Apple Cider Vinegar Linked To Weight Loss?

Apple Cider Vinegar is hailed by many as a ‘wonder elixir’ - and has been so for centuries. Recently, celebrities have extolled its virtues, and devotees claim it helps with everything from supporting your immune system to improving metabolism - although exactly what it does, or how it works, remains unclear.

Robust scientific studies have been few and far between - but the international research publication The BMJ (British Medical Journal) has just published a study, which links a daily drink of apple cider vinegar to “significant weight loss”.

The study was focused on 120 clinically overweight and obese participants, who were observed for 12 weeks. It found that those consuming at least 10ml of Apple Cider Vinegar daily saw an average weight less of 15 pounds.

They also saw their Body Mass Index fall by three points, as well as there being a drop in their blood sugar and cholesterol. Participants who drank smaller amounts also saw a decline in their weight, blood sugar, BMI and cholesterol, to a lesser degree.

The researchers concluded that apple cider might have potential benefits in improving metabolic parameters related to obesity and and metabolic disorders in obese individuals - and that there was good evidence for further research to understand more.

As always, though, experts have been keen to point out that while this research may be promising, there’s rarely a ‘magic bullet’ for weight loss, and this very specific study was conducted on young people (aged between 12-25) who were clinically overweight and obese.

At Beauty Pie, our Apple Cider Vinegar comes in gummy form - meaning no acidic aftertaste (in fact, they’re naturally flavoured with Apple). Two gummies provide 1000mg of Apple Cider Vinegar, and the vegan, gluten-free gummies also contain Chromium to support healthy blood glucose levels and normal macronutrient metabolism and Vitamin C to support energy-yielding metabolism and to help reduce tiredness and fatigue.

Reviews say “I’ve been feeling less fatigued since I started taking them”, “delicious way to get your daily dose” and “Easy to take, nice flavour & I'm so convinced they work that I've ordered 2 more bottles! Feeling better already, with more energy & better sleep. I take 2 with my breakfast every day.”
